We live in the White Pass area bordering the Cascade Mountains and along the Cowlitz River on 10 acres with cashmere goats, so our dogs retain their working heritage. We believe first and foremost in the Tibetan Mastiff as a working dog / flock guardian and take great pleasure in breeding for the beautiful red -gold. We breed for good structure and movement as well as a working temperment peppered with the ability to gently love. This breed has the ability to tree bear and take out a pack of coyottes as well as care for children with a tender and loving temperment. Some of our dogs work day care centers with children while others are on working farms.
Our Red Golds since 1982 began with the breeding of Kailas St Augustine - our foundation bitch known as "A lover." She successfully stamped her pups with the ability to work and to successfully love her flock and or her family. As our foundation bitch she produced and or is the grandmother - great grandmother of our Reds. RedDevil was our first champion of record and Pup sweepstakes winner. He followed that with the National BOS winner and a Dog number 4 among the top ten along with his brother Kobuk who was the number 7 dog.
From there our Prudhoe Bay, Boomer, RedDancer In The Dark, Redheart, Salty Dawg, Om Deva Simba, Golden Nikishka, Maya, Kaila, Bodhi, and others have graced the earth as our "signiture reds" and so our website ID of alaskareds.net
Our Kennel name Tibetan Mastiffs Of Alaska honors our place of residence where we were when we got our first Tibetan Mastiff. We honor that State for her belief then and now in a "handshake and a promise" and the morals / ethics of her beautiful people. We also honor the names of her cities/municipalities by having out dogs carry the names of her cities. From St. Augustine to St Mary to RedDevil, Healy, Kiskast River, Kobuk. Stony River and on we remember the years of living in that beautiful state via our dogs of today.
We occassionally have puppies available and suggest you read and study this breed for months and or years before you commit to a pup. This is not a breed for everyone so take your time to find a breeder you can trust and work with being mentored for the lifetime of your dog.
These are the sites we recommend you study.
